# How to change design placement for products created with the designs tool

You can manually adjust placement for products created with Designs directly in the app.

### Editing placement

1. Open the product in the **Products** tab.

_Starting from Designs? Click "Edit product" first — this opens the same product in Products, where the placement editor is available._
2. Click **Edit placement**.
3. Preview the placement on every color the product sells, using the swatches shown.
4. Adjust: **Width, Height, Rotate, Scale, Position left, Position top, Design size,** and use **Guides** and **Show print zone** to help you size and position visually. _(Width, height, and position use the same numbers Printify shows, so you can cross-check directly against Printify if needed.)_
5. Not happy with your changes? **Discard** reverts back to the last applied placement.
6. Once you're happy, confirm to generate pending mockups with the new placement, then click **Update product** — this sends the new print area to **Printify** and the new mockup images to **Shopify** together, in one step.

Placement applies to **all colors at once** — you can't set a different placement per individual color. If you need per-color placement, use **Mockup Generation** instead.

### Don't edit placement directly in Printify

Editing placement in Printify and publishing from there can overwrite your custom mockups with Printify's generic defaults. Use **Edit placement** in the app instead — it's the safe way, since it updates your mockup image and Printify placement together in one action.
