How do the BuildMyPOD theme updates work?

We release theme updates every time we make improvements or fix existing bugs. The new theme will be uploaded as a draft in your store, and you will get an email explaining all the changes and fixes.

Important: you will only receive the new theme versions as drafts in your store if your workflow wasn't reset after finishing it, and you still have the BMP app installed on Shopify.

Updates are applied only to stores that have the BuildMyPOD theme set as your store’s main (published) theme. Stores with draft versions of the theme do not receive automatic updates.

If you haven't received the theme as a draft, go to the "Theme Updates" menu inside BuildMyPOD.

There you'll find details on what changed, instructions to reconnect the app, and a button to send the new theme to your store. You can also access this directly at buildmypod.ai/theme-updates.

  • If you've never selected a niche, banners, etc. before running the Theme Update, the system will automatically fill in random placeholder options so the theme has content to display. You can replace these anytime in the theme editor.

There isn't a direct way to automatically copy all customizations from one theme to another in Shopify. Theme settings, section configurations, colors, fonts, and code customizations are unique to each theme and don't transfer automatically.

You'll need to manually reconfigure the new theme using the theme editor, including sections, blocks, colors, fonts, and any code customizations. Your products, collections, menus, pages, and blog posts will remain intact since those are managed separately in your admin.
