Printify Connection Error
If you're running into issues connecting to Printify, there are a few common reasons this can happen. In this article, we’ll walk through the top three problems users face and how to fix each one.
Let's go through all the possibilities.
1. Missing Printify Sign-in
After installing the Printify app on your Shopify store, you also need to sign in to your Printify account. If you skip this step, the apps won’t be able to connect properly.
To sign in, simply click on the Printify app in the Shopify menu on the left. You'll immediately be able to see the Printify sign-in page:
You need to make sure you log in to the same Printify account you allowed BuildMyPod to connect to in the previous step:
Once you're signed in, your store and Printify will be linked and ready to go!
2. Store Name Mismatch
The name of your Printify account must be the same as the name of your Shopify store; otherwise, you won't be able to proceed.
- Inside the Printify app, your store's name will be at the top of the screen and will be accompanied by the text "Set up [your store's name]".
- Your Shopify store's name will be visible next to your profile icon (a colorful square).
- To change the name of your store, click on the Printify app inside Shopify.
- Inside Printify, you should be able to see a menu. Click on "Store Settings".
If you don't see the Printify menu, click the hamburger menu (three stacked lines) next to the notification bell on the top right to open it.
- You'll be redirected to the Store Settings page. Inside the page, you'll see a section called "Store name" where you can change your Printify store's name to match your Shopify store.
- If you're unsure about your Shopify store name, go to "Settings" inside Shopify, click on "General," and your store's name will be on the right under Store Details.
Now that the names match, you can finish up your store workflow
3. Wrong Printify Account Connected
During the BuildMyPOD workflow, you will need to allow the connection between the BuildMyPOD app and Printify.
If you have multiple Printify accounts and/or stores, you need to make sure you are logged in to the correct account/store before allowing the connection.
If you connect BuildMyPOD to one Printify store, then try to log in to a different Printify account after installing the Printify app on Shopify, BuildMyPOD will not recognize the connection.
If you think you've connected BMP to the wrong Printify account/store, please follow these steps:
- Open the Printify website (not the Printify app installed on Shopify) on a separate tab and click on your store name located on the menu on the left side of the page, beneath the Printify title.
- Check if you have multiple stores listed. If yes, we recommend deleting the extra stores to avoid confusion. You can delete the stores by clicking on "Manage my stores".
You'll be redirected to a page with all your stores listed. For every store you wish to remove, click on the three dots, and you'll see a delete option.
- Now that you have deleted all the extra stores and are signed in to the correct one, log out of Printify completely. You can do this by clicking on "Account", the last item in the menu on the left. Select the "sign out" option.
- Reach out to our support team and ask them to reset your workflow to the Printify step.
- After they'll do, you'll go back to the Create Printify Account step. Scroll down and click on the log in to existing account option.
4. You'll be redirected to Printify's landing page. On the top right, you'll see a login option.
- Once inside your Printify account, double-check that you still have the correct store selected.
6. Go back to BuildMyPOD and proceed with the workflow. This time, BuildMyPOD will connect to the correct Printify shop.
4. Printify installed in the wrong Shopify store
If you manage multiple Shopify stores, it’s important to ensure that both the BuildMyPOD and Printify apps are installed in the same store.
If BuildMyPOD is installed in one store and Printify in another, the apps cannot connect properly. This mismatch will trigger an error message, since the integration requires both apps to be active in the correct store.
In the error message, you’ll see the name of the correct store**.** This is the store where the Printify app needs to be installed. Click the highlighted store name to be redirected there.
Next, in Shopify, click on Apps >>>> App Settings. This will show all apps currently installed in that Shopify store.
Check whether both Printify and BuildMyPOD are listed.
- If Printify is missing, it means the app was previously installed in the wrong Shopify store.
- To resolve this, install Printify in the correct store (the one shown in the error message).
Open BuildMyPOD again and click on Install Printify App.
You'll be redirected to the Shopify App store, where you can install the Printify app. Make sure you have selected the correct Shopify store by clicking on your profile icon in the top right. If not, switch to the correct one by selecting "Switch stores".
After switching to the correct Shopify store, you'll get the option to install Printify, this time in the correct store.
After installation, you'll be redirected to the Printify app inside Shopify. Make sure you log in to the Printify app.
