Managing your products

The Products tab is where you manage everything after a design has become a store product — reviewing details, publishing, editing, and deleting. It includes both products created by Designs and any existing products already in your store, labeled Created by WeScale or Imported from Shopify.

A design that hasn't yet reached the "store draft created" stage still lives in Designs, not here.

Finding products

  • Search by product name — search matches the product's current title, so if a product was recently renamed in Shopify, searching its old name won't find it once the rename syncs to WeScale.
  • Filter by status: All, Live, Draft, Processing, Pending updates, Needs attention — each shows a count.
  • Sort by Newest, Oldest, or Title A–Z.

Reviewing a product

Click a product to open its details drawer — mockups, colors, name, description, and other details.

  • Name: You can edit the name directly in this drawer, next to Colors and Edit placement.
  • Click any image to enlarge it; use arrow keys or Previous/Next to browse.

Tip: opening a product from the Designs page shows a read-only summary with an "Edit product" link — click that to open the same product here in Products, where changes are actually made.

Renaming and deletion sync

  • If you rename a product in Shopify, that change eventually syncs to WeScale (row, drawer, search, sorting) — but it isn't instant.
  • If you delete a product in Shopify, it disappears from Products once WeScale receives that update — and the design it was created from also disappears from your Designs library. This can't be undone or restored. If deleted by mistake, you'd need to re-upload the design file to start over — and it may not get the same name back, since a deleted product's name can stay reserved for a period, while a renamed product's old name becomes available again for reuse.

Editing Colors and Your Lead Image

Each product has a lead color — the color used as the main/first image customers see. You can change this, and which colors are included, from the product's drawer in Products.

Changing the lead color

Click the star on any eligible mockup to set it as the lead. The current lead is marked with a filled star.

  • To undo a pending lead change, click the star on whichever color is currently live as the lead — clicking your new selection again won't undo it.
  • A color without a linked image can't be set as the lead.
  • For existing Shopify products (not created via Designs), you can set any of their own linked color images as the lead, even colors outside your brand palette — you don't need new mockups just to change the lead image.

Adding and removing colors

Click Edit beside Colors to reveal Add and Remove options for each color. This now works on every product, including existing Shopify products that sell colors outside your brand palette.

  • Removing a color: any color currently on sale can be removed, whether or not it's part of your brand's color palette.
  • Adding a color: you can only add colors that are part of your brand's color palette in Settings.
  • A color you choose to add or remove shows as pending (will be added / will be removed) until you send the update.
  • Click Undo to reverse a pending change before sending it.
  • At least one color must always remain — you can't remove the last one, and this also applies if undoing would leave none.
  • If you remove the current lead color, you may be prompted to choose a new lead.

If Edit is disabled, hover to see why — usually because the product needs mockups generated first, or because a color is missing its required product photo.

Important: Closing the drawer, or clicking Done, keeps your pending choices saved — but does not send them to Shopify. Only clicking Update product actually applies the changes to your store.

3. Publishing, Updating, and Taking Products Off Sale

Publishing a draft

On a ready draft, click Publish — or select multiple drafts and use the selection bar to publish in bulk.

If the batch includes existing Shopify products that were already drafts, you'll see a note that they may have been left as drafts intentionally — review before confirming. You can inspect a product in Shopify (Open in Shopify) before deciding to Publish or Cancel.

If you see Update permissions, you'll need to complete a Shopify authorization step before publishing can continue — follow the prompt, and for custom Shopify app connections, you may need to update permissions in the Shopify Dev Dashboard and reconnect.

Sending pending changes

If you've made pending changes (colors, lead image, new mockups) to a product:

  • Update product — sends that one product's pending changes directly.
  • Update & publish (bulk) — opens a confirmation, then sends pending updates and publishes any eligible selected drafts in the same action. The confirmation clearly separates which products will be updated vs. published; Cancel leaves everything unstarted.
  • You can't make further changes or discard pending ones while an update is actively being sent.

Photo replacement policy: when new mockups are sent to an existing Shopify product, whether an existing photo is kept or replaced depends on which colors it's linked to:

Existing Shopify photo

What happens

A photo linked only to colors receiving new mockups

Replaced

A photo shared with a color not receiving mockups

Kept

A photo linked to no color

Kept

A Printify mockup linked to at least one color receiving mockups, or linked to no color

Removed

A Printify mockup whose linked colors are all outside this update

Kept

Not every custom photo is guaranteed to be preserved — it depends on its specific color links, not just whether you're updating that product.

Taking a product off sale

Select one or more Live products, choose Set as draft, and confirm. They come off your storefront immediately but remain in Shopify as drafts — you can publish them again anytime.
