Why does the Designs tool use Printify Choice, and can I change the print provider?
Products created with the Designs tool use Printify Choice as the print provider. You can't pick a different provider inside WeScale.
What is Printify Choice?
Printify Choice is Printify's own fulfillment option. Instead of one fixed print provider, Printify automatically assigns a provider from its network of top-rated providers for each order, based on factors like price, quality and the customer's location. Printify doesn't show which provider fulfilled a given order.
Can I use a different print provider?
Yes, but WeScale's Designs and Products features only support Printify Choice. You can switch the provider in Printify after the product is created, but once you do, WeScale can no longer update that product. Do it in this order:
- Make all your changes in WeScale first (colors, placement, mockups), and click Update product.
- Switch the provider in Printify.
- Re-publish the product from Printify so the new SKUs update in Shopify. Before you publish, untick Mockups in the sync options, or Printify will replace the mockups WeScale created with its own.
- After that, make any further changes directly in Printify and Shopify.
Why you need to re-publish after switching providers
Switching the provider changes the variant SKUs in Printify, but doesn't update them in Shopify. If the SKUs no longer match, Printify may leave that item out of a customer's order, and you won't see an error. Re-publishing from Printify sends the new SKUs to Shopify.
To check it worked, open the product in Printify and in Shopify and compare the SKU of the same variant (same color and size). They should match.
If you used Import Designs: The print provider comes from whichever Printify preset/template you're using for that import — Import Designs uses whatever provider that preset is configured with.
